EMS system deployment in a commercial property
In the first quarter of 2026, SMN GROUP completed a pilot of its proprietary energy management system (EMS) deployed in a commercial property. Following the successful conclusion of the pilot phase, the company is now beginning market deployments — both in the B2C and B2B segments.
Pilot completed
The EMS pilot was conducted in a commercial property in southern Poland. The test objective was to validate four key functionalities of the solution:
- Self-consumption optimisation of energy from the installed photovoltaic system.
- Source and load integration — coordinated control of PV installation, energy storage and heat pump operations.
- Reporting and monitoring — real-time energy consumption monitoring, anomaly detection, reports for the facility operator.
- Process automation — triggering energy scenarios depending on external conditions (weather, tariff, load).
After the pilot concluded in March 2026, the system was deemed ready for commercial deployment at a wider scale.
Market deployment — two segments
After the pilot phase, SMN GROUP is launching market deployments of the EMS system in two segments:
B2C segment (households) — in the HEMS (Home Energy Management System) version dedicated to single-family homes with PV installations and/or heat pumps. The solution is distributed through the group's operational brand and installation partners.
B2B segment (enterprises) — full EMS version for commercial properties, office buildings, manufacturing facilities and housing communities. Deployments cover both integration with existing renewable energy installations and new projects delivered from scratch by SMN GROUP.
Development strategy — in-house and partnerships
EMS development is taking place along two tracks:
In-house development — own team developing the system core, technical integrations and user interfaces. This allows full control over the product roadmap and pace of response to client needs.
Strategic partnerships — in parallel, SMN GROUP is concluding agreements with industry firms in the areas of:
- Inverter and energy storage manufacturers — to ensure native integration of the EMS system with the most popular hardware on the Polish market.
- Renewable energy contractors — who deploy EMS in their clients' facilities as an integral part of installations.
- Commercial property operators — enterprises managing larger numbers of facilities for which EMS enables centralised energy management.
Market context
EMS deployment in the SME and housing community sectors represents a natural direction for the development of the Polish renewable energy market. After the phase of mass photovoltaic installation, the era of intelligent consumption management is now beginning — driven by net-billing constraints, energy price volatility and the growing number of integrated sources and loads in facilities.
The SMN GROUP system addresses this trend, offering a dedicated solution optimised for the conditions of the Polish market — tariffs, regulations and the typical installation mix (PV + storage + heat pump).
Roadmap
In subsequent quarters of 2026, the company plans:
- Expansion of the distribution partner network to the markets of France, Romania and Bulgaria.
- Expansion of reporting modules for companies managing larger numbers of facilities.
- Integration with BMS (Building Management System) in commercial properties.
